Jabari Parker contract extended to 2026

Jabari Parker contract extended to 2026

Barcelona's number 22 says the decision was 'very easy' and that he aims to 'give 100%'

Contract extension to 2026 agreed between Barça basketball and US power forward Jabari Parker. The blaugrana number 22 arrived on a one year contract last summer and both parties have now agreed to extend it for two more years. “I really appreciate it. I have felt good, and the games and experiences have been good since I first set foot in Barcelona. I just want to carry on those good times here in Barcelona for more years”.

As such, Parker confirmed that “deciding was very easy. I would decide the same 10 times over if I had the chance. I think it's the best decision”.

Parker has become a key player for Roger Grimau's side and a crowd favourite at the Palau Blaugrana in just a few months in Barcelona, with fans enjoying his great quality and spectacular plays every game. He has the numbers to boot, both in the EuroLeague (10.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and a Performance Index Rating of 9.3 in 33 games) and in the ACB (11.5 points, 3.1 rebounds and a Performance Index Rating of 10.6 in 28 games). He describes his start in Barcelona as "intense". "I have done the best I can and I want to return that intensity to the fans". "My aim is to give 100% for the next two seasons, give my all on court and give everything I can back to the fans".

The number 2 pick in the 2014 Draft is looking forward to the final phase of the season, with the EuroLeague play-off against Olympiacos the first big challenge to come, stating “We want to be intense, with the fans, with energy. Both teams play with a title win in mind”.

Away from the court and in what is his first taste of Europe, Jabari Parker is showing his desire to adapt to the city. “My life in Barcelona is fantastic. I love it, both for the quality of life and the food”.

He is also a regular user of public transport, stating “I chose not to have a car because I'm in a city where it is very easy to get around. I don't have to worry about a car. I take the train because I understand that God has given me this privilege. People take the bus because they have no choice, so I am happy to take the train and the metro by choice. But I also enjoy being with people, I get good vibes when I see people every day and I have the chance to walk down the street. This also means I can be a person in Barcelona and a Barcelona citizen. That's what I try to do. I try to be just another local resident”.
